Details of the National Relay Championships are here:
Saturday 22nd August 2015 at the National Water Sports Centre, Adbolton Lane, Holme Pierrepoint, Nottingham. NOTE: This is the week before the Bank Holiday weekend.
PACTRAC have had teams competing for many years now. In 2014 over 2000 athletes and 100 different clubs competed.
The distances are: swim 500 metres in the lake, bike 9 miles, run 3 miles.
The cost is £164.00 per team of four, so £41 each plus £5 for any non-BTF members.
Saturday AM: 08:45 - Teams of 4 men or 4 women.
Saturday PM: 13:45 – Mixed Teams.
Each member of the team individually swims 500metres, before tagging their team mate, and so on, and so on, until all four athletes have completed the swim. Each athlete then individually completes the 9-mile bike, until the last team member then tags the first team member to start the 3-mile run section ... so everybody gets a rest between each discipline.
On Saturday morning, the various men's and women's categories will be racing for National Championship Awards - junior, senior, vet 40 & vet 50. In the afternoon, the mixed categories will compete.
Teams are made up of 4 athletes, either all male, all female or two of each or 3 and 1, (to qualify for National Championship medals all 4 team-members need to be members of the BTF, but this is not what we are entering for, so all are welcome).
Open teams (Saturday afternoon), are those that have a mix of male and female, or have any non-BTF members.
Registration Times: Saturday 7am – 8.15am and Saturday 12pm – 1pm.
Transition will be opened from 8am to 8:30am on Saturday for the first two team members to rack their bikes; and from 1:15 to 1:30pm for the afternoon race.
Race Briefing is at 8:30am and 1:30pm.
Start Times Saturday Morning Male & Female 8.45am. Saturday Afternoon Mixed 1.45pm (Approx.)
Please respond on the Forum or by email to sjhope@tiscali.co.uk if you want to compete. We will sort the places out nearer the time, to try to get some competition amongst ourselves. We had 6-teams entered not that many years ago, so all are welcome. We will probably enter teams in the Open Category on Saturday afternoon, unless anybody requests otherwise. Some people have already stated that they wish to be in a team, but can you please respond again, now that we have the above information.
Thanks.
Steve.
