Press Release from the above:
"Matt returns to inspire young triathletes.
Ex Kings school boy Matt Gunby returned to Peterborough this week to spend time with PACTRAC juniors . Matt led a two hour training session held at Stanground College for the youngsters, where he put them through their paces. He led a swim drafting session, gave away some transition secrets, before giving the youngsters encouragement in a duathlon, run-bike-run event.
In the question and answer session which followed the juniors were amazed to hear that Matt trains between 4 – 6 hours each day, burning some 7,000 calories!
Matt is currently on the Tri Gold Elite programme of British Triathlon, where he is one of a very small group of athletes with their training geared to the 2016 Olympics in Rio. This fantastic scheme aims to attract high quality athletes and develop them into gold medallists and is supported through the Wells Sports Foundation. When London won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics, Barrie Wells was determined to contribute to its legacy. In addition to supporting the Tri Gold Programme the foundation aims to have a positive impact on young people through the power of sport. It’s ‘Athletes 4 Schools’ scheme sees some of 2012's biggest sporting hopefuls delivering fun and educational workshops to inspire young people in their own lives.
PACTRAC Junior sessions will resume at Stanground College in September. Email Wendy Gooding, w.gooding@stangroundcollege.co.uk for further details."
