Virtual Eye 10k.

Tue, 6th Apr 2021 - 4:58 p.m.

Email received from Simon Lovell, Race Director of the Eye 10k:

"We know it will not come as a surprise but we have regrettably decided that with Covid restrictions still in place we cannot for the second year running hold the Eye10k this year. We are planning to return on Sunday 8th May 2022 and hope to see all our friends again then.

In the meantime, we would like to invite you to take part in our VIRTUAL EYE 10K over the WEEKEND OF SATURDAY 8th and SUNDAY 9th May. There is no entry fee and no prizes, just an opportunity to complete a 10k distance over a course of your choice, log it on the Eye10k virtual results page and we will create a set of results where you can see how you compare with others submitting a time. There isn’t a charge to take part, but we would ask that if you are able to, a small donation to our race charity which this year is the Peterborough Light project would be appreciated.

Please check back to the race web site nearer the date to find the link to submit your time.

Best wishes
Race Director"

"Next Sunday – May 9th we should have been hosting our annual Eye 10k and 3k Fun Run, but with Covid restrictions still with us unfortunately cannot hold again this year.

We would however like to give athletes an opportunity to pit themselves against others by holding virtual 10k and 3k Fun Runs races next weekend. Runners may choose to complete either the 10k or 3k courses of their choice either on Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th May and then submit the time to the link given below. Results for both events including by age category will be processed and published on Monday 10th May.

We are not asking for any payment to take part and no prizes or mementos will be given, this is just a challenge which will allow runners to see how they compare with others. Whilst no charge, it would be great if runners taking part would consider donating to our event charity the Peterborough Light Project. The charity aims to provide support to homeless people around Peterborough, a group hit particularly hard by the ongoing pandemic.

Links to both the results logger and fundraising page are given below.

Thank you for your support of our event in the past and hope that some of your members will run a course and submit a time, whilst we would really love to see as many as possible at the event in May 2022.

Sorry I can’t offer a bottle beer to each 10k entrant as is normal for the race, but I’m sure many will feel they have earnt a beer after completing their run.
