Swim Training in August. Oundle pool will be closed.

Oundle pool will be CLOSED for ALL of August for repairs to the liner. Hopefully it will re-open by 5th Sept.

The Lido in Peterborough is open to the public until 8:00pm each weeknight at £3:60 a session. However, they only heat it with sunshine, so it's only about 68 degrees tops.
The Regional pool in Peterborough is fully booked during August. There is no space at Jack Hunt pool in Peterborough either, except an Adults only session on Thursday night's 8-10pm.

Does anybody have any other suggestions ????????????

Corby pool has 4, 50m lanes open on a Friday evening 1930-2130

2 Hours! We need to get some distance work done in July to take advantage, or we'll all be pooped. The last 2 Thursday night's in the river have been 96 and 79 minutes respectively. That's a start.

Is Arthur happy going to Corby? Will they charge him to go in? Is it busy? Are any of Arthur's swim group up for it?

Caroline was wanting a longer session on Monday's. Is this the answer short term?

I'd possibly look at a long term commitment with Corby.....dependant on cost? Its a great pool with better facilities. Might work long term in the growth of the club?
We could change what we do as I'm interested in changing the whole coaching dynamic.

The problem with changing pools is that we then change the demographics of the club, and in effect become Corby Triathlon Club. Also you'll never be able to replicate the great times and days that we have at Oundle. We'd end up with a 9:00 to 10:00pm slot and then numbers would dwindle.

I have been quoted £60 to hire 1/2 of the P'boro Lido for an hour or £150 for the whole pool for an hour ... and we think that Oundle is expensive.

How about swimming in the nene in august.a few of us swam there on monday evening at wadenhoe (without wetsuits) and found it to be alright (a bit chilly without wetsuit) you can park up at the kings pub and just cross pub garden and get straight into river,perfect, you can swim up to aldwincle (1 mile) or n'pton if yur keen! And its FREE..

Re swimming from 1st August: OUNDLE POOL WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE WHOLE
OF AUGUST. Our last swim at Oundle will, therefore, be this Friday 29th
July.

Our amended schedule for August is as follows:

Monday - Corby 8:00 - 10:00pm Adults only public session.

Wednesday - P'boro Lido public swim until 8:00pm (wetsuits optional).

Thursday - River swim 2 miles approx between Oundle and Wansford. see
forum each week for details.

Friday - Corby 7:30 - 9:30pm Adults only public session.

We will start with this and tweek it as we see fit.

However, this Sunday 31st July, there will also be a session in the
Lido in Peterborough. The Lido will be open from 8:00am. It can be a
little on the cool side, so you might want to bring a wet suit! It is a
55 yard pool. We will be in from 8:00am. Afterwards at 9:30am there
will be an 8-MILE RUN FOR ALL ABILITIES. We will run back or wait at
various points for those at the back, so all abilities welcome. There
are showers after the swim, but not after the run.

He plans to re-join in September as he wants to do the Frostbite series with us as he prepares to do his first half-ironman in Antwerp next year.

Ed Sweeney, CASC (that's Corby Swimming Club), also has space with Corby Swimming Club Mon 8-9pm, Tues 8.30-10pm, Thurs 8-9pm and Fri 8.30-9.30pm. I'm going wherever Arthur goes! He's improved my swimming ONE THOUSAND PER CENT and continues to do so. Corby sounds great in the mean time but long term I reckon we should stick with Oundle as it's pretty handy and quite a few come from Peterborough direction and beyond, so Corby might be a bit too far every week.

The Corby sessions are going well.

Ed has put some sessions together for us which
are mainly freestyle, and he's happy for people to come along.

Monday's are at 8:00pm and Friday's at 8:30pm.

Tell them at Reception that you are with Corby Swimming Club, then find the head coach Ed
& pay him (not reception) *before* the session.
