Training

Club Training

Your training will consist of a mix of swim, bike and run along with strength and conditioning. All this is wrapped up in an Annual Training Plan to get you race fit for the summer racing season.

Annual Training Plan

The club Annual Training Plan (ATP) is used for training all athlete levels with a focus on summer racing.

The ATP provides a framework that you can use as a basis for your personal training plans by complimenting it with sessions outside of the club and specific to races and schedules. Athletes should remember to plan recovery and rest within their plans. We're here to support you in any way we can. Speak to any of the coaches at your next club session.

Strength and Conditioning

Although we are unable to offer strength and conditioning at the moment we will be looking to do this in the future. However there are some great resources out there. If you don’t think it’s important, listen to this great podcast to inspire you. https://www.purplepatchfitness.com/podcast-transfer/146-strength-training

Swimming

We have 1 fantastic location for swimming and 2 sessions to choose from:

Monday - 25m pool at Oundle 7.30-8.30pm

This session is at the pool at Oundle School Sports Centre. We have 6 lanes and these are fully coached.

Wednesday - 25m pool at Oundle 7.30-8.30pm

This is a fully coached session held in the 25m pool. The sessions are progressive throughout the season and led by club coaches. During the summer this is replaced by the brilliant mini-series which is a set of weekly sprint distance triathlons, all details of this can be found on ClubPal and the club page on Facebook.

How to book?

Session bookings can be made on ClubPal.

Cycling

Group Rides

We don't have any formal group rides but encourage club members to arrange rides, Facebook is a great place to organise things so keep an eye out or ask if anyone fancies a ride out.

There are a number of fantastic cycling clubs in Peterborough some of which are CTT affiliated and cheap to join so you can benefit from club and open TT races during the year as well as group rides.

Turbo sessions (Winter months)

The sessions vary each week during Autumn and into the spring and will be in the format of a warm up, varying intervals at different zones and a cool down lasting approximately an hour in total. We run regular sessions on Zwift but we can use Zoom so coaches can help you get the most from the workouts if you don't have Zwift.
Workouts are sent out each week along with a ZWO file for those using Zwift. More information and details can be found on the club FB page.

Running

The Frostbite League

The club get together once a month from October to March to compete against other local running clubs in the Frostbite League.
The Frostbite League is a popular race series where runners score points across 6 cross country races, all about 5 miles long.
All you need to participate is to be a fully paid up member and a club vest/t-shirt.
More information on the league can be found below.

Track sessions

Running on the track is a fantastic addition to your training and there are a few ways of getting some run training on the track at Peterborough.
GPAN run sessions on alternate Wednesdays for only a £1 a session. These are aimed at new comers to track running and run by some of our great local clubs. They have some good information about training so check out their Resources page on the link below.

And finally if you are a Vivacity premier member you can get free access to the track when it’s open as part of your membership. Great stuff so get running!!
