If you've entered the Cambridge tri (August 2ND) please be aware it may be cancelled.

Following statement taken from Cambridge Tri website -

26 July 2012: We have been informed by The Mepal Outdoor Centre that blue-green algae has been found in the lake and it is currently closed.

The centre is awaiting a retest of the water early next week and we will make a final decision on Wednesday 1st August 2012 concerning the running of the event. Please check back after Wednesday for further updates and news.

Hi Guys

Me and Tony Daniels had entered this one but it looks a bit grim (neither of us fancied doing a Duathlon) so we have switched to race the Grafham Triathlon on the same date (looks like its the first time its been run). There are still spaces there if anyone else wanted to make the switch (link to the race below)

The problem with NiceTri (Gratham) is that they only started organising open triathlon's last year and straight away started charging top whack, even though they had no idea how many competitor's they would get, and, therefore, how much competition they could provide for the money. For their kind of money you want to know that you have some competition, and because they haven't built their races up gradually like other organiser's, they can't "guaranty" that. That puts athlete's off, which results in even less competition in each Age Group.

And the Cambridge Tri is on... now I feel peeved that i swapped over! Oh well i'll let you know how the grafham tri works out. Good luck to those doing Cambridge!

Good points there Steve and not something i'd thought about - I guess at my level it's not an issue but I appreciate that those experienced members who are top age groupers could be put off.
