Top Lodge 11km running race on Sunday 10th November.

Fri, 6th Sep 2013 - 4:15 p.m.

The Peterborough 5x5 Challenge Committee are pleased to announce that the
'Remembrance 11' will again take place this year, on Sunday 10th November.

The venue, courtesy of the Forestry Commission, is at Top Lodge, Fineshade Woods, a
20 minute drive from Peterborough.

The main race is a Garmin measured two lap 11k (In view of the multi-terrain nature of the course an accurate Jones counter measurement is not practical).

The vast majority of the course is on wide solid tracks. An initial lap of approximately 3k is followed by a second longer lap. There is an accompanying 3k fun run. The routes for both the main race and fun run will be fully marshaled and totally traffic free.

In 2012 this event raised over £2500 for the Charity 'Help for Heroes'. In
keeping with our race theme, all profit this year will be donated to The
Royal British Legion.

Once again on line entry is available at no extra cost. Full details of the event are available at http://www.peterborough5x5challenge.org

Thank you for your support. We hope to see you 10th November if not before.

Sun, 10th Nov 2013 - 6:13 p.m.

The 2nd Annual Remembrance 11k Running Race was held at Top Lodge, Fineshade today.

The course consisted of a smaller 3k loop followed by a longer 8k loop. It was all on solid trail, with a slight amount of mud on the stony trail at the far end of the course.

Mike Chapman of NVHs / PACTRAC was leading until the half-way point with the eventual winner, Danny Keating from Leicester Coritanian's right on his shoulder. Danny took over the lead at half-way and pulled out a margin of just 10 seconds by the finish.

The race for third looked decided with Matt Fowler of Kettering Town Harriers, chasing on his own; until being reeled in, in the final sprint by Neil Hume. The big hill just before the sprint finish caught many runners out.

252 runners finished the race raising £2,000 for this year's event charity, the Royal British Legion.

If you include second claim members, then PACTRAC would have taken the team prize.

The race was lovely. Respectful, beautiful woodland trails and stunning weather. The organisation was top notch. All my friends commented on how well organised it was. Totally enjoyed it. Apart from the hill at the end.......

Thanks.
